Italian insurer, Generali, plans to reduce its workforce in Germany by around 9 per cent and consolidate its office network as part of a restructuring exercise aimed at simplifying operations and lowering costs.
The company will establish five regional centres in Munich, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Hamburg and Saarbrücken, bringing together teams currently spread across the country. The consolidation is intended to improve collaboration while reducing operating expenses.
According to the company’s recent announcement, the planned job reductions will primarily be implemented through voluntary retirement arrangements.
The restructuring will also reduce the number of locations from which Generali operates in Germany, aligning its workforce and office structure with the company’s efforts to streamline its operations.
The move reflects Generali’s broader focus on simplifying its organisational footprint in the German market, with the regional centres expected to bring employees and teams together in fewer locations.
