A new simplified pension- application form for retiring employees is set to be launched by the Central government on Friday, 30 August 2024. The form, which consolidates nine existing forms into a single format, streamlining the process for Central government employees who are approaching retirement.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce bureaucratic procedures in line with its “maximum governance-minimum government” policy.
The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare has introduced this new form, known as Form 6-A, which was initially announced in a notification dated 16 July, 2024. As per the recent directive, it will be officially rolled out today, that is, 30 August, 2024.
The updated form will be accessible through the Bhavishya and e-HRMS online modules. Employees planning to retire from December 2024 onwards will use this new form to complete their pension applications. Those using e-HRMS will fill out the form digitally, while others will do so through the Bhavishya system.
The integration of this new form into the existing digital platforms is designed to achieve end-to-end digitisation of the pension process, covering every step from submission to the commencement of pension payments after retirement. This transition is expected to eliminate paperwork and create a more user-friendly experience for future pensioners. Ultimately, further reducing the chances of errors or missed documents during the application process.
