Magenta Mobility has rolled out a new initiative to bring its delivery workforce under the government’s e-Shram portal. With this move, the electric mobility company aims to boost the financial and social security of its gig workers.
The e-Shram portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, is a national database created for thosevworking in thr unorganised sector, including gig workers and daily-wage earners. By registering on the platform, workers gain access to a range of government welfare schemes such as health insurance, life cover and income protection.
Through this effort, Magenta Mobility is integrating its delivery executives—numbering over 2,700 across India—into a formal identification system. Much like Aadhaar for personal identity, e-Shram acts as a socio-economic identifier for gig workers. This registration ensures their inclusion in national welfare initiatives that were previously hard to access for those in informal work arrangements.
To encourage smooth enrolment, the company has implemented a structured onboarding process. The aim is to ensure that every delivery executive benefits from the support system now available to them. According to
Maxson Lewis, managing director and CEO, Magenta Mobility, “We believe e-Shram is crucial in providing the safety net that our delivery executives deserve. They play a vital role in last-mile logistics and should have equal access to welfare schemes just like the formal workforce,” he said.
This initiative is part of the company’s larger vision to build a responsible and secure gig economy. With this move, Magenta Mobility reinforces its commitment to not just environmental sustainability, but also social equity for its workers.
