A Nashik sessions court has granted bail to a senior Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee who was arrested as a co-accused in a sexual- harassment case registered earlier this year at Mumbai Naka police station.
The employee, who was arrested from her residence in Pune on 10 April, is among three individuals named in the case. The FIR was registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking), 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and 49 (abetment), among other charges.
Additional Sessions Judge AV Kharkar granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with one surety. The court directed the accused not to tamper with evidence or attempt to influence prosecution witnesses while the case is under investigation.
During the hearing, the defence argued that the employee had been charged only with abetment and was based in Pune, with no direct involvement in the operations of the company’s Nashik office. The defence also submitted that the complainant had access to the company’s internal grievance redressal mechanism under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and had reportedly raised concerns with other company officials in 2023, who were not named as accused in the case.
The prosecution opposed the bail application, contending that the accused’s alleged inaction contributed to the continuation of the incidents at the Nashik facility.
The detailed court order was not available at the time of reporting. The remaining two accused arrested in the case have not yet been granted bail.
The allegations remain under investigation, and the charges have not been proven in court.
