SV Nathan, CEO of Visara Partners and former chief human resources officer (CHRO), Deloitte, South Asia, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Chitkara University. The recognition was conferred by the Ashok K Chitkara, chancellor, Chitkara University, and Dr Madhu Chitkara, pro-chancellor, in acknowledgment of Nathan’s extensive contributions to human resource management, organisational transformation, and social impact.

With a career spanning over four decades across industries such as manufacturing, telecom, IT, and professional services, Nathan has been a key figure in redefining HR practices in India. His work at Deloitte South Asia marked him as a leader in HR innovation, aligning human resources with business goals to drive organisational growth.

This alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur began his professional journey with Imperial Chemical Industries or ICI India, as personnel manager, way back in 1983. This was an appointment he got through the campus recruitment drive. During his 11-year long tenure there, he successfully led and handled the human resources and industrial relations issues of the firm in South India.

He has also led HR initiatives at major companies, including Reliance Communication, Sterling Holiday, and Philips Software Centre, and has served as a mentor to many in the HR community.

Nathan’s influence extends beyond corporate environments. He is also author of  ‘The Heart of Work’, which has gained widespread acclaim, and his #OfficeTruths posts on social media have established him as a thought leader in the field.

Those who have had the good fortune of working with him have been enlightened by his wisdom and “thoughtful ideology’. Globally recognised as an exceptional coach, mentor, leader, life skills advocate and motivational speaker, this great human being is sure to succeed in all his endeavours. The Honorary Doctorate of Literature (Honoris Causa) celebrates his lasting legacy as a transformative leader, mentor, and visionary shaping the future of HR in India.
