SAMHI Hotels has appointed Arpita Roy as portfolio director–human resources for its Holiday Inn Express portfolio in India. In this role, she will lead the HR function across 12 Holiday Inn Express hotels operated under IHG Hotels & Resorts.
With a strong focus on collaboration, employee engagement, and effective HR strategies, her mandate will be to build a high-performance culture while delivering meaningful employee experiences.
Roy brings over 18 years of experience in hospitality and entertainment, with deep expertise in employee engagement, organisational development, HR strategy, and people practices. Her mandate will focus on strengthening workplace culture, enhancing employee experience, and driving consistent HR systems across the portfolio as the brand expands its footprint in India.
Most recently, she served as human resources manager–PAN India, Encalm Hospitality, where she led HR operations across multiple locations, implementing policies and driving engagement initiatives. Prior to this, she spent over seven years with Merlin Entertainments, managing HR operations across India, Australia, and New Zealand, gaining strong international exposure.
Her earlier career includes roles at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Blu, and Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where she built experience across core HR operations and business partnering in hotel environments.
Roy is known for her people-centric approach, building a strong, inclusive and high-performance culture. Academically, she holds an MBA from Lucknow University.
