Tata Power has signed a preliminary agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to create a workforce training framework aimed at supporting Bhutan’s ambitious clean energy expansion plans. The initiative is expected to help build capabilities required for the development of 5,000 MW of clean energy capacity in the country.
As part of the partnership, training programmes will be conducted through the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), Tata Power’s training arm focused on developing industry-ready skills for the power sector. The initiative is designed to strengthen technical expertise and prepare professionals for the evolving demands of the clean energy ecosystem.
The collaboration aims to build local talent and support Bhutan’s long-term renewable energy goals. The agreement reflects a broader effort to create a skilled workforce capable of managing future energy infrastructure and accelerating sustainable development initiatives.
TPSDI was established to bridge skill gaps within the power industry through specialised training and certification programmes. The institute provides practical learning across different segments of the energy sector, including thermal and hydropower operations, as well as renewable technologies such as solar, wind and green hydrogen.
The collaboration marks another step toward building technical capabilities and supporting large-scale clean energy development in Bhutan.
