Amazon India has created more than 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across its operations network ahead of the upcoming festive season, with opportunities spanning over 400 cities across the country.
The seasonal workforce will support Amazon’s ecommerce and quick-commerce operations, including activities such as picking, packing, shipping and delivery. The opportunities cover both direct and indirect roles across metros as well as tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
The company has also onboarded thousands of women and persons with disabilities as part of its expanded seasonal workforce. A majority of the associates have already joined and are undergoing training ahead of the expected increase in festive demand.
“To meet the anticipated increase in customer demand, we have created over 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across our operations network. As we focus on building one of India’s largest, safest, fastest and most reliable operations network, we are also committed to building an inclusive workforce, with opportunities for thousands of women associates and persons with disabilities. This expanded workforce will help us strengthen our fulfilment and logistics capabilities and ensure we can handle the festive season seamlessly. Many of these associates continue their journey with Amazon beyond the festive period, while several others return year after year to work with us,” said Abhinav Singh, VP – operations, Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa and Turkiye.
Seasonal associates will have access to the safety, welfare and social-security benefits available across Amazon’s operations network, including provident fund, ESIC and gratuity as applicable. The company will also support eligible associates through its Samridhi programme to enrol on the e-Shram portal and access government welfare schemes.
The company has also expanded welfare measures for delivery associates, including insurance coverage, financial inclusion support, scholarships for associates’ children and road-safety initiatives. Its Ashray programme provides air-conditioned rest facilities for delivery drivers, with the company planning to expand the network to 250 centres by the end of 2026.
