Tamara Leisure Experiences (TLE) has concluded the fourth cohort of its Responsible Hoteliers of Tomorrow (RHT) internship and the second edition of its Connect Conscious Classroom (CCC) programme, giving hospitality students and educators practical exposure to hotel operations, sustainability and community engagement.
The RHT programme brought together 20 undergraduate hospitality students from seven institutions for 45 days of immersive learning across TLE’s properties and offices. Participants attended classroom sessions, visited local communities, interacted with industry practitioners and worked on sustainability-led projects addressing operational challenges at their host properties.
The CCC programme, meanwhile, offered hotel-management faculty a week-long immersion into hospitality operations, sustainability and community engagement. The programme also included workshops on teaching methods, industry trends, technology and management practices, enabling educators to bring practical industry perspectives into their classrooms.
The programmes form part of TLE’s broader approach to local employment and community development. According to the company, 40 per cent of its hiring comes from local communities, while half of its procurement is sourced locally. The group also said employee attrition remained below industry benchmarks.
Its wider people strategy includes the She Returns programme for women returning to work after career breaks, partnerships with SAATHIYA to create hospitality career pathways for young people from economically weaker sections, and initiatives focused on women’s leadership and disability inclusion.
TLE also works with the Skill Council for Persons with Disability to support training and placement for persons with disabilities and improve awareness of disability inclusion among employees.
Commenting on the initiatives, Samir MC, CEO, Tamara Leisure Experiences, said, “Responsible hospitality is a shared journey for our industry. As India’s domestic travel market grows, building an understanding of responsible practice early in a hospitality career matters more than ever. For us, working with academia is a two-way exchange. Students and faculty bring fresh perspectives and emerging ideas into our business, and we get to share what we have learnt from creating memorable experiences at our destinations responsibly. By strengthening this connection at the learning stage, we can help nurture professionals who understand that people, planet and profits must grow together. That is our contribution to a more responsible industry, and to the people who will shape it in the years ahead.”
Through its engagement with students, educators and local communities, TLE aims to develop hospitality talent while promoting more inclusive career opportunities and responsible business practices across the sector.
