Amazon India has announced the creation of more than 1.5 lakh seasonal jobs across the country as it prepares for the upcoming festive season. The new opportunities span over 400 cities and towns, strengthening the company’s vast fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network.

The roles include both direct and indirect work, covering major metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, as well as smaller cities such as Ranchi, Jalandhar, Coimbatore, and Anantnag. Thousands of women and over 2,000 persons with disabilities have already been onboarded.

The company said the expansion is aimed at ensuring faster deliveries during peak shopping periods. Many of the temporary recruits are expected to continue beyond the festive season, with some returning every year.

Amazon has also rolled out measures to support its growing workforce. It has expanded its Ashray rest centres to 100 locations this year, offering safe rest spaces for delivery partners. More than 80,000 associates will also benefit from free health check-ups that include eye, dental and physician consultations.

Workplace facilities remain a major focus. Employees have access to safe drinking water, clean washrooms, and air-conditioned cafeterias at larger sites. Onsite medical support is available through AMCARE first-aid units, and additional insurance coverage ensures protection against accidents and injuries.

To address financial wellbeing, Amazon runs the Early Access to Pay programme, allowing associates to withdraw a portion of their earned salary in advance. It also conducts ‘Samriddhi’ financial- awareness camps across the country.

Associates work five days a week and are covered by social security benefits such as PF, ESIC, and gratuity.

Abhinav Singh, VP – operations, India & Australia, Amazon, said, “This festive season, we continue to be focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India. For this, we’ve strengthened our fulfillment and logistics network with over 1.5 lakh additional people to help us manage increased customer demand efficiently. Many of these people continue their journey with Amazon beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning to work with us year after year.”

Amazon currently supports over 1.6 million sellers in India through a network of fulfilment centres in 15 states, sortation hubs in 19 states, and nearly 2,000 delivery stations. This festive season, its strengthened workforce is expected to play a key role in serving customers nationwide.
