The Jharkhand government, on Monday, May 18, stated that it is intensifying recruitment efforts across departments as part of a broader strategy to strengthen human resources and accelerate the state’s development agenda.
The chief minister, Hemant Soren, made the remarks while distributing appointment letters to 316 newly recruited intermediate and graduate-trained teachers and 17 women supervisors in Ranchi. The appointments form part of the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public service delivery, particularly in education and social welfare.
Soren highlighted that recruitment exercises across departments gained momentum soon after his government returned to power for a second consecutive term in 2024. According to the state administration, more than 9,000 appointments have been made in the education department alone over the last few months, while approximately 16,000 people have secured appointments across sectors over the past two years.
The government also indicated that additional hiring is in the pipeline, with around 1,000 more appointments expected over the next few months. The administration presented the recruitment drive as part of a wider employment generation effort at a time when hiring processes in some regions have reportedly faced disruptions.
The chief minister also highlighted the importance of women’s participation in development efforts and stressed the role of women supervisors in addressing challenges such as child malnutrition. The state administration has been expanding women-focused programmes and strengthening welfare initiatives aimed at improving economic participation and social outcomes.
The government views recruitment as a key component of its larger development plans, with an emphasis on improving outreach in villages and strengthening support systems for children and women. Furthermore, the workforce expansion across departments can play a significant role in improving outcomes in education, welfare and community development initiatives.
The latest appointments reflect the state’s broader focus on education, public sector capacity building and workforce expansion as part of long-term development planning.
