Tata Steel has finalised a long-term wage revision agreement with its recognised unions at Jamshedpur, bringing significant salary increases and enhanced benefits for employees across multiple categories.

The settlement will remain in force from 1 January, 2025, to 31 December, 2031, and covers employees in both the NS Series and Old Series categories, including workers at the Tubes Division. The agreement is expected to benefit thousands of employees and is among the most extensive wage settlements signed by the company in recent years.

As part of the revision, employees in the NS Series will receive a minimum guaranteed monthly benefit ranging from Rs 5,500 to Rs 9,300, depending on their salary band. The average monthly benefit under this category has been estimated at Rs 8,810. For employees in the Old Series, the guaranteed increase has been fixed at 10 per cent of basic pay plus dearness allowance, translating into an average monthly gain of approximately Rs 12,535.

The revised benefits will be incorporated into employees’ basic salaries in phases, strengthening long-term earnings and retirement-linked payouts.

The agreement also provides for higher annual increments across grades. Employees in both categories will see a substantial increase in increment values compared to the previous settlement. Dearness allowance provisions have been retained, ensuring continued protection against inflation.

A major feature of the settlement is the enhancement of several employee allowances. Benefits related to education, vehicle maintenance, utilities, mobile and internet expenses, night shifts, security duties, training roles and other operational responsibilities have been revised upwards. The total increase in common allowances will amount to over Rs 3,000 per month for most employees.

In addition, Tata Steel has introduced a monthly National Pension System contribution component and enhanced team performance rewards. Employees will also become eligible for House Rent Allowance equivalent to 10 per cent of revised basic salary from June 2026.

According to estimates shared as part of the settlement, the overall increase in compensation and benefits could range from about Rs 18,000 to more than Rs 30,000 per month, depending on employee grade and category. The agreement underscores Tata Steel’s continued focus on employee welfare while supporting long-term business sustainability and industrial harmony.
