Asahi India Glass (AIS) has elevated Gopal Ganatra as chief human resources officer (CHRO), adding HR leadership responsibilities to his existing role as executive director. In his expanded role, he will lead the company’s people agenda, focusing on talent management, leadership development, organisational effectiveness and workforce planning.
A member of the company’s top management team, Ganatra brings more than two decades of experience at AIS and a deep understanding of its business, governance, strategy and operations.
Ganatra has been associated with Asahi India Glass for over 21 years. He has served as executive director since 2017 and continues to hold responsibilities spanning legal, governance, ESG, internal audit, company secretarial and strategic functions.
Prior to taking on the CHRO role, he served as chief-GRC, general counsel & company secretary, leading corporate governance, risk management, compliance, investor relations, corporate restructuring and strategic initiatives. Over the years, he has played a key role in joint venture management, mergers and acquisitions, greenfield investments, project financing, operational reviews and business expansion projects.
His experience also spans organisational design, HR matrix structures, enterprise-wide policy development, compliance systems and stakeholder management. This broad cross-functional exposure gives him a unique perspective on aligning people strategy with business objectives as he takes on the additional responsibility of leading AIS’ human resources function.
With this role expansion, Ganatra will continue to support AIS’ broader strategic priorities while driving leadership capability, culture and long-term organisational growth.
