TCS reviews FY27 promotions as AI-focused Wings programme returns

The uncertainty comes as TCS revamps Wings, its internal learning and career progression programme that supports employees in building digital skills

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has said it is still reviewing its FY27 promotion schedule, even as it prepares to relaunch its internal Wings career- development programme with a stronger focus on artificial intelligence (AI) skills.

According to a Moneycontrol report, the company informed employees during a recent town hall that discussions on promotions are ongoing but no timeline has been finalised.

Management reportedly told employees that promotions remain under consideration and that an announcement would be made as soon as a decision is taken.

The uncertainty comes as TCS revamps Wings, its internal learning and career-progression programme that supports employees in building digital skills and qualifying for technology roles and promotions. The redesigned programme will place greater emphasis on AI capabilities, feature revised assessments and include partnerships with external education providers.

TCS had paused unit evaluations under Wings in May 2026 while the programme was being redesigned to align with evolving business requirements and technology trends.

The company had promoted around 1,10,000 employees on merit in FY25, although salary hikes were deferred at the time due to weak market conditions. TCS has since rolled out annual salary increments, with about 80 per cent of its international workforce receiving hikes over the past seven months. It also became the first major Indian IT services company to implement annual increments in 2026.

The review of promotions comes alongside broader organisational changes at TCS. The company has recently undertaken a leadership restructuring affecting multiple senior roles and created new business units focused on Autonomous Business Operations and ServiceNow services.

The latest developments reflect TCS’ continued shift towards an AI-first talent strategy, with greater emphasis on future-ready skills, internal mobility and technology-led career progression. However, employees continue to await clarity on the FY27 promotion calendar.
