AmbujaNeotia Group has appointed Subhashish Das as its group chief human resources officer (CHRO), reinforcing its senior leadership as the Kolkata-headquartered conglomerate scales operations across its diversified businesses.

In the new role, Das is expected to focus on strengthening leadership capability, integrating people strategies across the group’s multiple businesses, and building purpose-driven workplaces aligned with long-term growth ambitions.

The group, led by chairman Harshavardhan Neotia, has interests spanning real estate, hospitality, healthcare and education.

The appointment marks a return to the Ambuja fold for Das, whose professional journey in human resources began nearly three decades ago with Ambuja Cements. He joined Ambuja Cements in March 1995 as general manager–HRM and spent over a decade with the organisation, working closely with group leadership during a formative phase of its growth.

Das brings over 30 years of comprehensive, hands-on experience in human resource management, with a proven track record of supporting business outcomes through effective people strategies. His expertise spans talent acquisition and management, organisational capability building, HR integration, performance management, leadership development, learning and development, employee engagement, change management and innovation. He also brings deep experience in industrial relations, including union negotiations, grievance handling and large workforce environments.

Known for his ability to partner closely with senior leadership, Das has led HR agendas across complex, multi-business environments, working with real, virtual and matrix teams. His strengths include aligning people strategy with business objectives, driving large-scale change programmes, and building sustainable talent pipelines across diverse sectors.

Most recently, he served as president–HR & CHRO at J M Baxi Group from September 2023 to November 2025. In this role, he led people strategy for the logistics and maritime conglomerate. Prior to that, he was president–HR & CHRO, Alok Industries, between March 2020 and July 2023, supporting the company through a period of restructuring and operational realignment.

Earlier in his career, Das spent nearly 14 years at Berger Paints India, serving as vice president – corporate HR & personnel from March 2006 to February 2020. During his tenure, he played a key role in leadership development, industrial relations, organisational capability building and enterprise-wide HR transformation.

An alumnus of National Institute of Personnel Management, Kolkata, Das holds an LLB from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University.
