HCL Technologies marked its 50th anniversary with a large-scale celebration at its Noida campus, bringing together employees for an evening of performances, leadership appearances, and festivities.
The event saw a rare public appearance by Shiv Nadar, founder, HCL, alongside Roshni Nadar, chairperson and C Vijayakumar, CEO, who joined employees on stage. A private concert by Arijit Singh was among the highlights, drawing strong participation from the workforce.
Amid the celebrations, a spontaneous moment during the concert quickly gained traction online. As the CEO interacted with the crowd and danced on stage, an employee from the audience shouted a question about the timeline for appraisals. The remark, though unlikely to have been heard on stage, triggered laughter among nearby employees and later resonated widely after a video of the moment surfaced online.
The clip has since circulated across social media, attracting views and commentary, with many users responding humorously while also reflecting underlying employee concerns around salary revisions.
The anniversary event itself marked a milestone for the company, which was founded in 1976 and has since evolved into a global technology player. As part of the celebrations, the leadership announced plans to host similar nemployee-focused events across multiple cities over the coming year.
While the evening underscored employee engagement and organisational culture, the viral moment also highlighted how compensation-related questions continue to remain front of mind for many in the workforce.
