CEAT has introduced a series of workplace policies aimed at strengthening support for women employees at different phases of their professional and personal journeys. The tyre manufacturer said the updated measures are designed to help employees balance work responsibilities with health and family needs, while also enabling greater participation of women across roles.
One of the key initiatives is a Wellness Leave policy that allows women employees to take up to two days of paid leave or work from home each month during menstruation. The policy does not require employees to provide a justification. For those working on the shopfloor, the company has also enabled flexibility to change shifts or access Occupational Health Centres at manufacturing sites whenever required.
The organisation has also reinforced support for new mothers. Women employees are eligible for 26 weeks of paid maternity leave, along with hospitalisation coverage. Offices and plants have been equipped with crèche facilities and lactation rooms. Mothers returning to work are offered flexible hours, including the option to work four hours a day until their child turns one. In addition, a gender-neutral Child Caregiver Travel and Stay policy allows employees travelling for work to make arrangements that support childcare responsibilities.
At its manufacturing facilities, the company has been investing in technology and infrastructure to make shopfloor roles more accessible to women. Automated tyre-building machines, ergonomic workstations, lift-assist tools, and conveyor-based systems have reduced the physical strain associated with production work. These changes have helped increase the representation of women employees at several plants. The company’s Chennai facility now reports around 20 per cent women participation, while the Nagpur plant has achieved 28 per cent representation on the shopfloor and has introduced night shifts for women workers.
Beyond policies and infrastructure, CEAT has also launched development initiatives such as Womentoring, the Women Accelerator Programme, and STARS. These programmes focus on strengthening leadership capabilities, building digital skills, and preparing women employees for broader roles within the organisation.
CEAT is part of the RPG Group, a diversified global conglomerate with operations across multiple sectors and markets. The company exports tyres to more than 110 countries and supplies products to both domestic and international original equipment manufacturers.
