E-commerce platform, Meesho has announced the creation of nearly 12 lakh seasonal jobs in preparation for the upcoming festive season. A majority of these opportunities—around 70 per cent—are based in tier-3 and tier-4 regions, strengthening employment prospects in smaller towns and cities. The overall number marks a sharp 40 per cent rise from last year’s festive season hiring.

Within this surge, Meesho’s seller network has generated around 5.5 lakh jobs. These roles are spread across sorting, manufacturing and packaging, with sellers conducting short training sessions to get recruits ready for the festive rush. Sellers are also introducing new product lines, curating festive collections, and expanding into additional categories to meet anticipated demand.

On the logistics side, Meesho’s partnerships with leading third-party logistics providers and its own unit, Valmo, have created about 6.7 lakh jobs. This represents a striking 90 per cent growth in logistics hiring compared to last year. The jobs include positions for first-mile and middle-mile staff as well as delivery associates, covering duties such as picking, sorting, loading, unloading and managing returns.

Sourabh Pandey, CXO, fulfilment and experience, Meesho, said the company sees the festive season as a defining moment for Indian e-commerce. “With the trust of Indian households comes the responsibility to ensure readiness at scale. By creating over 12 lakh seasonal opportunities, with a large share from tier-3 cities, we are empowering sellers, manufacturers and logistics partners to deliver a seamless festive experience,” he said.

As India’s festive shopping season approaches, Meesho’s push highlights how e-commerce is driving job creation beyond metros, while continuing its promise of affordable products and wide accessibility.
