Ahead of World Youth Skills Day, Tata Motors announced that its flagship Kaushalya Programme has enrolled more than 23,000 youth since its launch in 2021, with over 5,000 graduates securing employment through a 100 per cent placement rate, including more than 50 international placements.

The company said the programme is aimed at bridging the gap between education and industry by equipping young people with skills in advanced manufacturing, automation and emerging mobility technologies. It is designed to strengthen the talent pipeline for India’s automotive and manufacturing sectors.

According to Tata Motors, the initiative is also focused on improving workforce diversity. Women account for 21 per cent of programme participants, while 25 per cent belong to affirmative action categories.

Commenting on the initiative, Sitaram Kandi, CHRO, Tata Motors, said, “Through Kaushalya, we are investing in the next generation of skilled professionals by creating opportunities that combine technical education, industry exposure and real-world experience. The programme is helping young people build meaningful careers while strengthening the talent pipeline required for an increasingly advanced and technology-driven automotive industry. The strong placement outcomes achieved by our trainees demonstrate the effectiveness of industry-academia collaboration in creating skills that are relevant, employable and future-ready. We remain committed to expanding the programme’s reach and empowering more young people to participate in India’s growth story.”

Currently operational across Tata Motors’ manufacturing facilities in Pune, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Sanand and Dharwad, the programme offers a fully- sponsored Diploma in Mechatronics under an earn-and-learn model. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with shop-floor training in areas such as automobile engineering, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, automation, IoT and Industry 4.0.

Graduates are placed across Tata Motors’ ecosystem, including dealerships, suppliers, Tata Group companies and other automotive firms. The programme has also facilitated Tata Motors’ Kaushalya programme trains over 23,000 youth, records 100% placement
