Wipro mandates 3 days work-from- office

Effective from 2 September, 2024, this rule applies to specific projects within the company

Wipro has introduced a new work-from-office policy for its employees. This move aligns Wipro with other Indian IT giants enforcing stricter office attendance.

The new policy mandates employees to be physically present in the office for at least three days per week. If they fail to follow the rule, they face deduction of a day’s leave. Effective from 2 September, this rule applies to specific projects within the company.

The company introduced flexible-work policy in 2023 amidst the increasing COVID-19 cases. The policy was aimed at putting the well-being of its employees first, meeting client requirements and fostering the professional development of its workforce.

According to a TOI report, Wipro’s management communicated this new policy via an internal email, instructing employees to adhere to the three-day office attendance rule. Any employee deviating from this policy will see their leave deducted. Furthermore, the company’s HR team has been directed to reject any work-from-home requests and revoke previously- approved ones.

However, it has been clarified that the policy is not applicable across the board and only targets certain projects.

Wipro joins other major IT firms, such as TCS and LTIMindtree, which have also enforced similar attendance-linked policies. Recently, LTIMindtree recently introduced its “Rhythm” policy, linking employee attendance to leave, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has connected variable pay to office presence, requiring staff to be in the office five days a week. Similarly, Infosys has implemented a three-day office attendance rule for its employees.

very good step by wipro as employees are taking undue advantage of work from home and doing other works also besides doing their job. Many have their side businesses and you tube channels.
