State-owned NHPC has appointed Paresh Rasiklal Ranpara as its director (personnel), reinforcing its leadership team with a seasoned HR professional from the power sector. In the new role, Ranpara will oversee NHPC’s human resource strategy, organisational development, leadership pipeline and employee welfare initiatives, supporting the company’s expanding presence across hydroelectric and renewable energy projects
The appointment has been approved by the Ministry of Power and will be effective from the date Ranpara assumes charge. He will serve a five-year term or until his superannuation on 31 August, 2031, whichever is earlier, unless otherwise directed.
Ranpara joins NHPC from Grid Controller of India (Grid-India), where he has been serving as director (HR) since May 2023. In that role, he led the organisation’s human resource strategy and organisational development initiatives.
With over three decades of experience in human resource management, Ranpara has built expertise in HR policy formulation, strategic workforce planning, organisational restructuring, leadership development, performance management, succession planning and employee capability building.
Before joining Grid-India, he spent nearly 29 years with Madhya Gujarat Vij Company (MGVCL) and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). As general manager and HR head at GUVNL, he played a key role in formulating HR policies for Gujarat’s power distribution, transmission and generation companies. He was also closely involved in the workforce transition following the restructuring of the erstwhile Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB), gaining deep insights into the manpower challenges of the power sector.
Ranpara began his career with GE Apar Lighting as a personnel officer in 1993 before moving to the power sector in 1994.
An MSW in Human Resources Development from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Ranpara also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sardar Patel University. In addition, he is a certified assessor from XLRI Xavier School of Management.
