DEPL has appointed Dr Mukul H. Chopra as its group chief human resources officer (CHRO), reinforcing its leadership team as the company enters its next phase of growth across telecom, digital infrastructure, green energy, and emerging businesses. In his new role, Chopra will lead DEPL’s people strategy, partnering with the leadership team to build a future-ready organisation by strengthening culture, leadership capability, talent management, and organisational excellence.
Chopra brings nearly three decades of HR leadership experience across the telecom, technology, infrastructure, retail, supply chain, and digital sectors. His expertise spans HR consulting, organisational transformation, talent acquisition, operations management, leadership development, and business partnering.
Prior to joining DEPL, he served as Principal Consultant at Transverse Consulting. Earlier, he was chief human resources officer at Transaction Solutions International (India) for over a year, where he led the company’s people agenda. Before that, he spent more than two and a half years as CHRO at ConveGenius, driving HR strategy during the edtech company’s growth phase.
Earlier, Chopra served as head of human resources at Club Factory for over three years, overseeing the company’s HR function in India. He also held the position of human resources director at Huawei for nearly two years, following an earlier stint as head HR – global technical sales, India Branch, where he established the Indian HR function supporting Huawei’s global technical sales operations.
Before joining Huawei, he spent over three years as head-talent acquisition at Aircel and nearly three years as Group HR Head at Arshiya International.
His earlier career includes HR leadership roles at Reliance Retail, Reliance Infocom, Airtel and Essar Telecom. He began his professional journey as an Engineer at Jindal Strips, before transitioning into human resources.
Chopra holds an MBA in Human Resources from Panjab University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College.
