JSW MG Motor India has placed diversity at the heart of its operations, achieving a significant milestone in workforce representation. The automaker announced that women now make up over 41 per cent of its workforce, with its battery assembly line running across three shifts staffed by an 80 per cent female team.
By empowering women across a critical part of its operations, JSW MG Motor India is not only scaling up EV production but also building an inclusive manufacturing ecosystem. The company’s focus on equity underscores its belief that diversity fosters innovation and strengthens growth in India’s rapidly evolving automotive sector.
At the company’s Halol facility, the battery assembly shop has been structured into four segments—module line, pack line, charging and discharging line, and final assembly line. This setup ensures both precision and efficiency, while also highlighting how gender diversity can power large-scale manufacturing operations.
The production process itself reflects meticulous engineering and rigorous testing. It begins with an open circuit voltage test to verify the electrical integrity of each cell. Specialised adhesives are then applied in the cell glue process, securing components in place before welding and module assembly. Spot and laser welding techniques are deployed for accuracy, with every module scanned and aligned to guarantee structural soundness.
Safety remains a core priority throughout. The insulation resistance test ensures electrical isolation, while bus bar fixing establishes secure power pathways. Each unit undergoes extensive charging and discharging tests to validate reliability and performance before the modules are integrated into packs. In the final stage, these are prepared for installation into MG electric vehicles.
