Indian City Properties, the real-estate arm of the Karam Chand Thapar Group, has appointed Kaustubh Joshi as its head – human resources effective 1 September 2026. In his new role, he will lead the company’s people strategy, HR business partnering, employee engagement, talent management and organisation development interventions.
Joshi joins Indian City Properties from Reliance Retail, where he served as general manager – human resources from October 2021 to August 2026 for nearly five years in Mumbai. In Reliance, Joshi played a key role in business partnering, talent management, OD interventions including getting prestigious external certifications for the organisation. Aside from his business- partnering roles with the pharma and electronics businesses, he also actively contributed to the flagship Reliance Emerging Leaders Programme by engaging with premier management institutes across India.
Prior to Reliance, Joshi was with Sterling & Wilson (associates of Shapoorji Pallonji group) for over three years from July 2018 to September 2021 – as head business HR for Hybrid and Energy storage business with focus on the company’s projects in African subcontinent. There, he was instrumental in building and managing a diverse workforce.
Earlier, he worked with Godrej & Boyce from January 2011 to June 2018 where he handled the business partnering role for Godrej Prima from January 2011 till March 2014 and then moved on to work with the innovation and design centre from April 2014 to June 2018 driving the programmes aimed at nurturing innovation and design thinking across the organisation.
His early career includes a tenure of nearly a decade from May 2001 to December 2010 with Voltas in various roles including an international assignment of three years based in Dubai. Aside from his business- partnering role with the international operations business group of Voltas, Joshi led many projects with focus on HR excellence, process improvements and business excellence. He was a key member of the Tata business-excellence assessment team.
Certified as a senior assessor by CII, Joshi has assessed many organisations in varied sectors including some of the maharatna PSUs on the CII-HR Excellence framework and has helped them grow in their HR excellence journey.
