US Bank has appointed Cynthia O’Connor as chief human resources officer (CHRO) for its India operations. In her new role, she will lead the organisation’s people strategy, talent agenda and HR-transformation initiatives, supporting business growth and workforce development across its India business.
Before joining US Bank, O’Connor served as director HR–HR business partner (technology) at NatWest Group, where she partnered with the technology function on strategic people initiatives. Prior to that, she spent more than seven years at Standard Chartered Bank as vice president and head HR–technology, leading the people agenda for a global technology workforce of around 13,000 employees across India, Malaysia, China and Poland.
Earlier in her career, O’Connor held HR leadership roles at Diversi Foods – Montana Bakery and Les Artisan Boulangers, where she led human resources across the business in the UK, and at Sutherland Global Services, where she served as director- human resources, overseeing the HR function for a workforce of over 2,300 employees across multiple locations.
She also held operational leadership positions at Infosys BPO, Hewlett-Packard and Amazon early in her career, giving her broad experience spanning operations, customer service and human resources.
With over two decades of professional experience, O’Connor has built expertise across strategic HR, HR business partnering, employee relations, talent acquisition, leadership development, organisational transformation and workforce planning. Her career has largely focused on supporting technology and global business services organisations through periods of growth and transformation.
Academically, O’Connor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Madras and a CIPD Level 7 qualification in Human Resource Management from Cullan Scholefield.
In her new position at US Bank, O’Connor is expected to drive the company’s people strategy in India, with a focus on talent development, organisational capability and strengthening the employee experience as the organisation continues to expand its presence in the country.
