Bharat Electronics (BEL) has appointed Ambrish Tripathi as director (human resources). Tripathi assumed charge of the role on 13 August, 2026, strengthening the Navratna defence public sector undertaking’s HR leadership as it continues to expand its capabilities across the defence and electronics sectors. As director (HR), Tripathi is set to focus on positioning the HR function as a strategic partner to BEL’s growth, with emphasis on talent development, innovation, employee excellence and technology-driven HR processes.

Prior to his appointment, Tripathi served as general manager, BEL’s Kotdwar Unit, a position he held from January 2024 to August 2026. During his tenure, he led HR and organisational initiatives focused on workforce capability, employee engagement, institutional capacity building and aligning people policies with business objectives.

Tripathi also focused on addressing skilled manpower challenges at the remotely located Kotdwar Unit. His initiatives included campus recruitment from regional colleges, hiring ex-servicemen for supervisory roles and engaging trained manpower through *Advanced Trainees* after apprenticeships. These measures resulted in zero attrition over the past two years and the induction of more than 150 professionals.

His tenure also saw a focus on structured learning and skill development. These initiatives helped the existing workforce develop the Kawach system for Indian Railways in record time, while also supporting stable industrial relations and a productive workplace.

Earlier in his career at BEL, Tripathi served as AGM at the Integrated Software Complex (ISCO), where he contributed to IT and people initiatives aimed at onboarding and integrating Gen Z employees. He also supported the integration of learning platforms such as Udemy and Coursera with BEL’s IT infrastructure, strengthening the company’s digital learning ecosystem.

Tripathi holds a BE degree from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Allahabad, and an Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management, specialising in Human Resources, from Symbiosis, Pune. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.
