Anoop Hiwalay has joined Schneider Electric as director-human resources, taking on a broader business HR mandate after several years in talent acquisition and HR leadership roles across technology and financial services.
In his new role, Hiwalay will lead HR for Schneider Electric’s commercial business in India, covering sales, One Automation, Home Solution, Digital Energy, Power Products, execution centres and strategy. His remit also extends to the company’s operations in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Hiwalay joined Schneider Electric in 2022 as director-talent acquisition, India and HR Leader for India One Solution. Over nearly four years, he led talent acquisition for the Greater India region while also serving as HR leader for the India One Solution business.
Before Schneider Electric, Hiwalay headed talent acquisition for engineering, product and design functions at Jio Platforms, supporting businesses including Ajio, JioMart, JioMeet, JioEngage and JioCloud. He had earlier served as senior director-HR at Ola, where he led HR for the technology organisation alongside talent acquisition for the wider Ola group.
A significant part of his career was spent at HSBC, where he held leadership roles across HR and talent acquisition. As head of talent acquisition for the bank’s global service centres, he managed hiring and onboarding across India, Sri Lanka, Poland, Malaysia and Egypt, covering operations, services, finance and risk functions. He previously served as vice president-HR at HSBC.
Hiwalay also spent more than nine years with Microsoft, progressing from college programme manager to HR business partner and later staffing lead. As an HRBP, he supported sales, marketing and services businesses, while as staffing lead he managed end-to-end talent acquisition for Microsoft’s Global Business Services organisation in India.
He began his HR career at Patni Computer Systems as an HR Generalist, handling the full spectrum of HR for a business vertical with a peak employee strength of 1,600.
An alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hiwalay holds a bachelor’s degree in English, Economics and History from Government College of Arts & Science, Aurangabad.
The move to Schneider Electric marks a shift from a predominantly talent acquisition-led career into a broader business HR leadership role, bringing together Hiwalay’s experience in talent, HR business partnering and workforce strategy across technology and financial services.
