Kyndryl has announced a key leadership transition in its human resources function, marking the closure of a defining chapter in the company’s people journey. The company acknowledged the contributions of Maryjo Charbonnier, who leaves behind a strong legacy after playing a central role in shaping Kyndryl’s people strategy since its early days.

During her time at Kyndryl, Charbonnier played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s people-first culture and building a globally aligned talent architecture. Her leadership helped strengthen employee engagement, embed disciplined upskilling frameworks and position Kyndryl as an employer of choice across markets. Under her stewardship, the company earned more than 100 workplace awards worldwide, reinforcing its reputation for inclusive and high-performing workplaces.

Succeeding her is Mark Paulek, who has been appointed as the new chief human resources officer. Paulek brings deep institutional knowledge, having led major HR transformation initiatives across Kyndryl Consult, Delivery and Commercial organisations. His experience places him at the centre of the company’s efforts to align talent strategy with business priorities, particularly as Kyndryl adapts to rapid technological change and the growing influence of AI.

In his new role, Paulek is expected to focus on evolving Kyndryl’s workforce for the next phase of growth, with an emphasis on skills transformation, leadership capability and future-ready talent models.

In her LinkedIn post, Charbonnier reflected on her career in HR as a purpose-driven journey rather than a conventional role, highlighting the importance of supporting organisations and people through periods of transformation. She also acknowledged the leaders and HR teams she worked with across multiple organisations during her career, crediting those experiences with shaping her leadership approach.

She also expressed gratitude for the support of her family, which she described as essential to sustaining her two-decade career as a public company CHRO. “As for me, I am looking forward to a new chapter – one that allows time for new opportunities, personal passions and to give back in different ways. I leave confident in the future of Kyndryl and thankful for all the relationships across my career that will remain,” she said in her post.
