BCH Electric has appointed Amit Sharma as its chief human resources officer (CHRO), marking a new step in his more than 19-year career in human resources. In his new role, Sharma will lead the company’s people strategy, with responsibilities spanning workforce planning, employee relations, organisational effectiveness, talent development and HR policy.

At BCH Electric, Sharma’s mandate will centre on strengthening the organisation’s people practices while building capabilities that support business growth. His experience across business HR and corporate HR functions is expected to bring both operational and strategic depth to the company’s people agenda. He will also partner with the leadership team to align the people agenda with the company’s business priorities.

Sharma brings experience across HR leadership, business partnering, organisational development, digitalisation and analytics. Before joining BCH Electric, he spent nearly eight years with International Tractors, where he most recently served as associate vice president & corporate HR head. During his tenure, he led HR for the Sales and Marketing business of Sonalika and also took on corporate HR responsibilities covering compensation and benefits, payroll, performance management, learning and development, HR digitalisation, policy and audit management. He was also responsible for leadership hiring.

He had earlier served as general manager & business HR head at International Tractors, heading the HR function for Sonalika while also overseeing compensation and performance management at the organisational level. He progressed through several HR roles at the company after joining as deputy general manager in 2018.

Prior to International Tractors, Sharma spent about four years with Escorts, where he held HR business partnering roles across operations, sales, marketing, international business and the Railway Equipment division. His responsibilities included manpower planning, talent acquisition and management, change and performance management, employee engagement and employee relations.

Sharma began his career with Coffee Day Group in 2007 and subsequently worked with Bharti Retail and Accenture Management Consulting, gaining experience across employee engagement, talent management, workforce planning, process excellence and HR strategy.
