Rajendra Mehta has stepped down as president and group chief human resources officer (CHRO) at Suzlon Group, concluding a tenure of nearly three years with the renewable energy company. An official announcement from Suzlon regarding his departure is awaited.

Mehta joined Suzlon in December 2022 to lead the company’s human resources function and drive its people strategy during a period of business transformation and growth. In this role, he was responsible for strengthening talent management, organisational culture, leadership development, and overall organisational effectiveness.

A seasoned HR leader with over 30 years of experience, Mehta has built expertise across strategic human resources, organisational transformation, talent development, succession planning, employee engagement, performance management, diversity and inclusion, leadership capability building, and technology-led HR transformation.

Before joining Suzlon, Mehta served as president and group CHRO at Welspun Group, following a stint as president and CHRO at Welspun India. Earlier, he was executive director at Synergy Capital, where he partnered with portfolio companies across India, Thailand, and Indonesia to strengthen people practices and accelerate business transformation.

Prior to that, he served as chief people officer at DHFL, leading the HR, learning and development, sales training, and administration functions for a workforce of more than 8,000 employees across 350-plus locations.

One of the most significant phases of his career was at Zee Entertainment Enterprises, where he spent over five years as global chief people officer. During this period, he focused on building organisational capability, strengthening employee engagement, and preparing the organisation for future growth across global markets.

Earlier in his career, Mehta held senior HR leadership positions at DCM Shriram, VNL, and The Times Group, where he spent nearly nine years across multiple HR leadership roles. He also worked with Larsen & Toubro and KEC International, laying the foundation for a career spanning engineering, manufacturing, media, financial services, retail, internet, and renewable energy sectors.

Throughout his career, Mehta has worked extensively on business transformation, leadership development, organisational productivity, and culture-building initiatives.

Mehta’s next professional assignment has not yet been announced. Suzlon has not disclosed a successor for the Group CHRO role either.
