Welspun Corp has named Rakesh Mehta as its new chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective 13 October, 2025. The decision marks a strategic step in the company’s efforts to enhance its leadership team and organisational efficiency.
Prior to this, Mehta was associated with Uno Minda as its CHRO. He joined the company in 2024.
Mehta brings close to 30 years of experience in human resources, having held leadership roles in several top Indian conglomerates such as JSW Energy, Reliance Industries, General Motors, Asian Paints and Crompton Greaves. Over the years, he has built expertise in areas such as cultural transformation, industrial relations, mergers and acquisitions, and people strategy.
One of Mehta’s major accomplishments includes overseeing large-scale workforce integrations across more than 70 global manufacturing plants. His expertise lies in managing complex HR transformations.
A graduate of the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, Mehta combines strong academic grounding with practical leadership experience.
In addition to this appointment, Welspun Corp also announced a change in its senior management structure. Bindu Nambiar, vice president-HR, will no longer be classified as senior management personnel but will continue in her current role. The move reflects a restructuring effort aimed at refining internal hierarchies and aligning leadership responsibilities.
Through these leadership changes, Welspun Corp aims to reinforce its HR framework, foster organisational growth, and ensure its workforce remains aligned with the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
