JSW Group has announced significant leadership appointments within its human resources function as part of its broader effort to build a resilient, future-fit organisation. The diversified conglomerate has strengthened its people leadership to support scale, performance and long-term capability across its businesses.
The Group has appointed Sandeep Batra as president and chief human resources officer for Steel and Corporate functions. In his new role, he will steer the people, talent and culture agenda for JSW Steel and the Group’s corporate teams. His focus will include organisational effectiveness, leadership capability, talent development, and building systems that support sustainable growth.
Batra brings more than three decades of experience across talent management, organisation design, and productivity enhancement. His career spans multiple sectors, including IT, consumer services, telecom, retail, infrastructure and aviation.
Before joining JSW Group, he served as chief people officer, Adani Airport Holdings. His earlier stints include senior leadership roles at Landmark Group and Vodafone India. He has also served as a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, adding a strong foundation of leadership and discipline to his professional journey.
In another key move, JSW Group has appointed Shilpi Lal Sharma as its group head-talent, learning and development (L&D) , and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) . She will lead the group’s learning strategy, leadership development initiatives, succession planning, organisational development, and inclusion agenda across businesses. Sharma will report to Batra in her new role.
With over 20 years of experience in talent and learning, including more than 15 years in senior leadership roles, Sharma joins JSW Group from Welspun Group, where she headed talent, learning, and organisation development (OD) . Her previous experience also includes leadership roles at NSE India, UltraTech Cement, and Edelweiss Asset Management.
Commenting on the appointments, Parth Jindal said that as the group continues to scale, investing in leadership, depth and people capability remain critical. He added that the combined expertise of Batra and Sharma will help build high-performing teams aligned with JSW Group’s long-term growth ambitions.
